The picnic pavilion and restroom facility marks another milestone for Ed Nikles Custom Builder, Inc. as they have demonstrated success in both residential and light commercial building.

The pavilion was built though the partnership of County and State government.

Ed Nikles Custom Builder, Inc installs Eco Friendly Picnic Area“The successful completion of the pavilion at Lily Pond brings forward a new dimension for Pike County residents to enjoy family fun in our beautiful outdoors,” said Pike County Commissioner Rich Caridi. “Our residents can now visit this pristine environmental treasure to fish, hike, and picnic as individuals or in groups with well-constructed amenities similar to our state parks.”

Caridi also said that he hopes residents take advantage of the new opportunities the new facilities will offer.

The bid for construction was advertised to local contractors by the Pike County last year, and Ed Nikles Custom Builder was awarded the job.

“We saw this as an opportunity to display to the public our community public work projects,” said Nikles.

The Lily Pond picnic pavilion will provide picnicking options for larger groups and alleviate demand for free, open-air picnic areas for the general public. The pavilion, built from Douglas Fir posts and beams, has a concrete floor, cedar ceiling and standing seam metal roof.

“The pavilion recently constructed by the Pike County Commissioners at Delaware State Park LILY POND PICNIC AREA TRAILHEAD and FOREST DEMONSTRATION was sorely needed,” said Pike County Commissioner Karl A. Wagner Jr. “The Commissioners extend their appreciation and gratitude to Ed Nikles and his team for a job well done.”
